Week 2 (March 9)

Lent week 2 (March 9)

1. Share your high & lows!

2. Discussion Guide -

- Introducing our theme, "metanoia." You heard a little about it last week. Think again about the definition we're using, "the journey of changing one's mind, heart, self or way of life." What comes to mind for you when thinking about this concept?

- How has life changed for you recently? How have you felt about the changes you've needed to make?

What are some pressures that you feel in today's society?

- If you could change any one thing about yourself, what would you change?

- What are some of the expectations you feel like you  need to live up to?

- When feeling extra pressure, what are some ways that you use to get out of that?

- What does worship feel like for you? Does it impact the rest of your life?

    Scripture reading - Romans 12:1-2
I appeal to you therefore, siblings, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

    Reflect
        - In your own words, what do you think these verses are saying?
        - What questions does it raise for you?
        - In what ways do you think you conform to the world? Where do you differ?

    Notes:
    - Your bodies already are holy and acceptable to God for you are created by God! "Presenting yourself" then is simply seeking God's guidance on how to act/what to do.
    - It is God's will that is good, acceptable, and perfect. This is not a demand on you needing to be "perfect." Rather, as faithful people we ask that God would help align our lives with God's intentions.

*Prayer time – Pray for each other’s highs & lows.
Dear God, thank you for (highs). Please be with us as we deal with (lows).
