Lent week 5 (March 30)

  Lent Week 5 (March 30)

1. Share your highs & lows!

2. Discussion Guide -

- What is a book or story you've learned something from personally?

- When it comes to making mistakes, I usually react by...

- When being corrected, I appreciate it when people...

- How do you typically respond when you see someone doing something wrong?

- Who gives you advice the most? Whose advice do you trust?

- Who has helped shape you? What experiences have shaped you?

- (You don't have to share if you don't want, but reflect on..) When was a time you were hurt by someone else's actions? Vice versa? How was that resolved (if at all)?

 Scripture reading - 2 Samuel 12:1-13 the following is an excerpt;

...Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man. He said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die; he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.”

Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I anointed you king over Israel, and I rescued you from the hand of Saul;  I gave you your master’s house, and your master’s wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added as much more.  Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight?...

    Reflect
        - In your own words, what do you think these verses are saying?
        - What questions does it raise for you?
        - Is there a character you feel like you relate to?

*Prayer time – Pray for each other’s highs & lows and the following new piece,
Dear God, thank you for (highs). Please be with us in the midst of (lows). Help us to be patient and graceful with ourselves and others as we learn and change and grow.

          Amen.
